I invite you, now, to know another one of my wood carving work inside my main theme.
I call it "the owl´s wizard".

wood carving

We can see an old man with a big gray hair, beard stretched and wrapped by an owl through a kind of "aura" energy (which appear greeny in the artwood sculpture).

The posture of this man (a kind of posture from sorcerer preparing some kind of magic or witchcraft) is there to bring strength to an image that we are conditioned to see as weak and without power. There is an inclination to see commom old mans like weak, but to wizards are not linked these images of fragility.

Wood: brazilian arana cedar
Dimensions: 60cm x 30cm x 3cm

The owl, of enormous size, has part of their feathers and plumes connected to this old man. It is located on the bottom, behind the human figure.

There is, in this woodcraft, a sight of a complementation and a potentiation. The owl, animal skillful hunter, with agility, noiseless and dexterity, complements, gives power and enhances the natural vision of weakness existing in old age. More than complement, it potentiates the powerful image of wisdom already existing in older human beings, because wisdom also connects to this mysterious animal.

Again the strength and human weakness are seen at the same time, showing how
complex may be looks for the human being in their contact with the wild world.

My intention in create this woodcarving was to show the fragility being reinforced, and power being multiplied by a kind of bond that is getting quite scarce in the world that we live, a link that brings benefits to all sides. The wise man that gets help wherein has weakness also helps in what the animal is weak. We need to recover this mutualism and this abetment that was lost in the complex, inevitable and important relationship between man and the wild.
